Student Council was proud to once again head up and host the Great Canned Food Drive. Class officers worked tirelessly getting donations from around the community to provide canned goods and necessities to the needy in our area. Donations went to such worthy causes as Shelbyville Community Soup Kitchen, who provide over 170 meals a week, and Good Samaritan food bank. Dog food and pet items were donated to New Destiny Dog Rescue and the local shelters that are committed to taking care of animals in our county. Baby items were also donated to a local organization for mothers in need. This year's theme was SCHS Can Fight Hunger and featured super heroes. The floor display was of the Avengers logo, surrounded by the logos for Captain America, the Fantastic Four, Black Widow, and the X-Men. We are proud to announce that over 19000 items were collected to fight hunger in our community. Student Council and the Boys' Soccer team moved and sorted over 19000 items for delivery to the different non-profits in our town. SCHS Student Council would like to thank all the community members and businesses that participated in the food drive to provide for those in need in our county.
