Carlos Robles and Karla Ochoa taking orders at the coffee house that Student Council is sponsoring this week. The SCHS Coffee House started two years ago in hopes of helping different clubs and organizations raise funds for various charities and to run their own organizations. The Coffee House sells a variety of things such as iced coffee, doughnuts, fruit tea, and baked goods brought in by members of the club. This week Student Council has been raising funds through brownies, cookies, and much much more. With the funds raised, Student Council plans to purchase Bubble Balls for a forthcoming school event. Stu. Co. would like to thank all the members who have brought in supplies and worked this week! Karley Simmons and Zhimiya Underwood working diligently selling doughnuts to our customers.

Anna Brannon and Ella Cobb, hard working Student Council members, making our teacher hall passes. In the previous years Student Council has used Hawaiian leis for hall passes, but this year they decided to purchase something more school spirited and chose lanyards with the school name and logo. They worked very hard putting them together and perfecting them in every way possible. When they finished putting them all together, they delivered them to all the teachers and staff members throughout the school. The teachers were thrilled with their amount of school spirit and were excited to start a new school year with Student Council and its members. Evie Winfrey assembling the teacher hall passes.
Student Council is proud to be involved in the new Renaissance program at SCHS. The program, designed to improve school involvement and encourage participation in all parts of high school life, is new to SCHS and kicked off with a freshman rally in the auditorium. New students were encouraged to get excited about their upcoming year as high schoolers with a beach themed event that involved music, crowd participation and games. Many members of Student Council are also involved in helping with the Renaissance program and Student Council is pleased to be working with Renaissance to build school morale and participation in academic and social aspects of high school life. Thanks to all our Stu. Co. members who helped set up, conduct, clean up, participate and generally welcome the freshmen into the school during this new and sometimes overwhelming phase of their life.
