Freshman open house was a great success at SCHS. Student council members helped all the upcoming freshman find their new classes and get their schedule for the new year. Other clubs such as Spanish club and HOSA were also there with a table set up to show new students all they have to offer for them to be involved in.

Great Canned Food Drive 2021Every year Student Council sets up a canned food drive to help those in need. We collect items and send them to places such as Good Samaritan, the local soup kitchen, First Choice, and the local animal shelters. The week of the canned food drive Student Council set up specific days to bring cans in. On day 1, students were allowed to bring any item options listed that week. On day 2, students were allowed to bring pet items or baby items. Day 3 was soup and fruit day followed by day 4, protein and necessity day. After all cans were collected, students came together the last day to build the display. This year's theme was "Helping the Hungry Is So Groovy" and the display featured a VW van. This years grand total was 20,756 items collected, beating our goal of 10,000. A Hollywood Homecoming was a success this year! The student council had been working hard for the weeks prior setting everything up. That week's dress up days included Stranger Things, Riverdale, Harry Potter Day, The Breakfast Club, and Jaws. On the last day of Homecoming week we had our pep rally. Students and faculty participated in relays that morning and had tons of fun. We wrapped up this year's soccer homecoming by crowning our 2021 Soccer Homecoming queen, Annie Solis. Football Homecoming was Halloween themed this year!! Our Student Council leadership class worked really hard on decorating and preparing for this week's activities. We included different dress up days for our student body and faculty such as tacky costume Tuesday, Mons-tober Wednesday, Halloween theme Thursday and, as usual, class color day for our pep rally that morning. Student Council came up with tons of activities for that morning's pep rally and our student body as well as our faculty enjoyed it! We started off with class vs. class tug-of-war and went on to the mummy wrap, juggling pumpkin guts and more. We also included some class and club activities like our virtual wagon parade and class pumpkin look-alike competition. After all the fun, we ended our pep rally with the Alma Mater and senior class pictures. During basketball homecoming we had many lunchroom activities. Each day during the week we had different dress up days, such as Mesozoic Monday, Tyranny Tuesday, Way-back Wednesday, Twenty-First Century Thursday, and Class Colors Day. Many students and faculty participated enjoyed it. We wrapped up Homecoming Week with the crowning of this year's Basketball 2020 Homecoming queen , Kaylee Adams. Leadership members served teachers breakfast to show that we care and appreciate them. Student Council allowed students to come into the library and study for their mid-term a week before. As they studied we served them cocoa & cram. They seem to really enjoy it. We hope to do this next year. At our December meeting we held a Christmas party where all members dressed up in ugly Christmas sweaters. We played games and ate lots of food. At the meeting we also talked about the accomplishment of the Great Can Food Drive. The party was a total success.
In October we attended our annual workshop. This year it was held at Giles County High School. While we were there, we attended several sessions where we learned a lot of new ideas to bring back to SCHS.
Our November meeting was very busy because we were planning our Great Canned Food Drive, which will be through November 18-26. We also discussed our plans for providing gifts to the Bedford County Child Development Center.
